Chef Joseph Badaro was born and raised in the family kitchen. One of his fondest memories as a child was helping his mother prep garbanzo beans for their family’s Hummus. Joseph continued to help her out in the kitchen, picking up new skills with every dish his mother prepared. By the age of twelve Joseph was already making Baklava on his own and quickly mastered cooking. Joseph furthered his culinary education in Lebanon, where he spent most summers growing up with family. During these trips to Lebanon he and his cousins ate their way through family kitchens, restaurants, and shawarma bars scattered all over Beirut, learning new authentic recipes, flavors, and cooking techniques native to his family’s culture with every trip. The Hummus Labs menu is a collection of Chef Joseph Badaro’s favorite Lebanese dishes, and represents everything he has learned over the years from his mother, family, and Lebanese roots.
